A Paris Elopement

Your Guide To Eloping In Paris

Some couples dream of big, elaborate weddings with all of their friends and family in attendance. They spend months planning and a lot of dollars making the dream come true. Then there are those who want something different. Who want a wedding with more excitement, spontaneity, adventure, and of course beautiful scenery. If you're part of that second group, then eloping to Paris for your wedding may be the perfect solution.

How To Elope In Paris

Eloping doesn't mean that you have to skip the planning phase and rush to the nearest chapel. As a matter of fact, we would never recommend traveling to another country without taking a bit of time to plan your adventure. But, of course, you still want to maintain that spontaneous feeling and excitement. It can be tough to keep that balance, but we have some advice that might help. If you were to jump on a plane immediately after getting engaged you might run into a few problems once you're in Paris. One of the first problems you're likely to encounter is the residency clause that prevents tourists from getting married on day one. According to their laws, you need to remain in France for at least forty days before you can have an official wedding. One solution to this problem is to stay in Paris for 40 days, but that can be pretty expensive and it means you'll need to put your life on hold. What the majority of couples do is to handle the official and legal aspects of the marriage within their own country. This doesn't mean you need a ceremony or a wedding dress for the occasion. It's a process that's handled mostly in the courtroom. From that point, you can jet to France and deliver your wedding vows in one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris.

Finding That Perfect Venue

Once you're officially married in your home country you're free to find the perfect Paris venue for your ceremony. If you're planning to invite friends and family you'll want to make sure you find a venue that is large enough to accommodate everyone. Here are a couple of destinations that are perfect for small groups.

1. Yachts De Paris

Most of us never get a chance to step foot onto a yacht much less get married on one. If you want to enjoy true class and extravagance at your wedding, then Yachts De Paris is perfect. The yacht travels on the beautiful Parisian river of the Seine and the scenery alone makes it worth every penny. The gourmet food and lavish accommodations only make it better.

2. Shangri La Paris

You may not be able to get married on the Eiffel Tower, but you'll be pretty close if you choose the Shangri La hotel as your venue. The rooftop is frequently rented for private events and it has a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. It's an amazing location whether you're getting married under the summer sun or beneath a starry night.

Don't Forget The Pictures

Photographs are an important part of any wedding ceremony, whether you're eloping or getting married in your backyard. When you travel to Paris for your wedding we hope you choose us to capture your elopement.. And really, your friends just might not believe that you got married across the road from the Eiffel Tower or while floating on a yacht in the Seine river.

About this Elopement

These two rented a beautiful flat in the heartbeat of Paris. With a balcony big enough for a Rabi and us. After the ceremony we rode around Paris, stopping anywhere that felt like a good photo opportunity. We slow rolled the city in a classic Citroën and it was the perfect quintessential Paris vibe. The beautiful thing is, you can have your wedding exactly how you’d like, no rules, just follow your heart.
