A hands-on review of the cult classic, Contax T2.

Want the truth? This isn’t an overpriced camera, even at upwards of $800. If you’re making money from shooting analog photography, the T2 is worthy of your camera bag. Equipped with a sharp 38/2.8 Zeiss lens and titanium body, it’s as beautiful as it is functional.

We used a handful of T2’s over the course of 2019-2022 wedding season and it felt good, not only did we capture some of our all time favorite images, we had the most fun, and absent an LCD, the T2 kept us focused on the moments unfolding in front of us.

We picked up the Contax T2 as a more durable option to some of the other compact 35mm cameras. As these cameras continue to age the electronics become more fragile. But cameras were made for taking images and being used, so we’ll run these into the ground. Exposure compensation is what sets this camera apart from other compacts. Film has so much more exposure latitude than digital. We shoot our color film at +1-+1.5, we use Memphis Film Lab and Panda Lab to process our images and buy our film from Film Supply Club

The Contax T2 is the ultimate analog pocket rocket.

We take ours everywhere, the images above are grab frames from just life. And we’ve been lucky, our T2’s have been healthy even though the’ve taken a beating and several hundred rolls.
